I am a Nairobi-based creative and marketing professional who enjoys thoughtful conversations, a hot drink and creative spaces. I believe that stories, whether in books, media, or conversation, have the power to shape culture and connection.
A reading culture in my home and early school life fostered my love for reading at a very young age. However, I distinctly remember what encouraged me to read when I was around 11/12 was having a community of friends with the same passion. We shared books, had elaborate debates about magical lands and first loves that not only brought us together but allowed us to critically explore worlds beyond our middle school classrooms. At university, I studied International Media and Communications, where I explored the intersections of media within a social and cultural context. Today, I approach books and literature from the same critical lens.
I look forward to joining Cheechs Bookclub as their Nairobi Chapter Lead, to build a community of like-minded people locally and across the continent. As well as to explore new books and ideas that platform African voices and global perspectives in ways that feel relevant in fun spaces around Nairobi.
